Histone H1 deamidation facilitates chromatin relaxation for DNA repair

Introduction:

This study employs ATAC-seq, multi-omics technologies and gene-editing models to uncover the critical role of histone H1 deamidation in DNA damage repair. The research team firstly demonstrated CTPS1 mediates the deamidation modifications at the Asn76 and Asn77 residues of H1. Through ATAC-seq, H1 deamidation and subsequent H1K75 acetylation were proven to function synergistically in promoting chromatin relaxation, thereby facilitating the recruitment of DNA damage repair factors. In short, this study provides a theoretical basis for the development of novel cancer therapies.
