The research team firstly demonstrated CTPS1 mediates the deamidation modifications at the Asn76 and Asn77 residues of H1. Through ATAC-seq, H1 deamidation and subsequent H1K75 acetylation were proven to function synergistically in promoting chromatin relaxation, thereby facilitating the recruitment of DNA damage repair factors.
